Please introduce yourself and tell us something about yourself and your background.
Photographer and student currently completing a BA in Photography and Digital Imaging at Leeds Metropolitan University. Lived in Leeds for the past three years. Built up a strong portfolio during this time of portrait and music photography. Enjoys photographing people over any other form of photography. After completing the BA course plans to move down to London to become a Photographers assistant or even start up own Business.

What's the central theme of your work?
Photographing people in the Music and Art scene.

What makes a good picture in your eyes?
One that has balanced composition. Colour that stands out from the rest. One that can create a feeling without words.

Where do you consider a photograph to be created? When it’s shot or when it’s processed?
The Photograph is created the moment the shutter is released. Any post processing done to an image is to put a personal stamp on the image.

What ability are you currently missing in your equipment, camera or the software you work with?
A digital back would be very handy...

In what way do you use the Internet? What role does the computer play in your work?
The internet means anybody with access can view my photographs creating a huge audience that would not have been possible years ago. I can upload any images i take for anybody to see or comment on. I have had alot work through the internet alone.

What means or ways do you use to show your work to the (outside) world?
I am planning to create a book or two showing some of my favourite images for people to buy. I am always looking for any open spaces to use as exhibitions for me and other creative friends.

Pixel or Grain?
Both

Concept or Moment?
Moment.

You seem to have a clear fascination for light, do you alter or manipulate it?
Light and colour are a very important factor in my photography work. I use both to portray an emotion or feeling in my images. If i do any post processing it will only be to bump the contrast up and change the colour slightly. The seasons give me the ability to set emotion in my image without the need for post processing.

If you had an unlimited budget and all the time you needed. What would you do?
I would travel the world and create a whole load of books full of documentary photographs.

What inspires you?
Light, colour, People, places. Train journeys never fail to inspire me. When i feel completely uninspired i get on a train and things become alot clearer.

How do to you keep your knowledge up to date? Do you spread your knowledge at universities, conferences or workshops and so on?
I am constantly on websites such as Flickr and online photography blogs, reading photography magazines and basically working with people on photo shoots. Trial and error is always a good way to keep your knowledge up to date personally.

Who is your favorite artist/photographer? Why?
Photographers like William Eggleston and Steven Shore whos colours, compositions and subjects inspired me a huge amount.

Which project or website would you like to have made, or make?
A community where Photographers could come together and promote their work in their local cities. Get funding for exhibitions and magazines.

Final words?
Everybody should have a camera. I just wish i kept all the photographs i took as a kid. Never throw an image away. ?>
